Strengthening Fort
Drum’s Community and Future
Our Mission
The Advocate Drum is dedicated to strengthening the connection between Fort Drum and the surrounding communities. We work to protect and enhance Fort Drum’s military value while leveraging its economic and cultural impact across New York State. Through collaboration and advocacy, we ensure ongoing support for service members, their families, and the broader regional economy.
Our Core Values
Our History
Building Strong Ties
Fort Drum became home to the reactivated 10th Mountain Division in 1985, bringing significant changes to the Northern New York region. In response, community leaders formed the Fort Drum Steering Council to support military integration and development. Funded by the Department of Defense and local agencies, this council served as a vital bridge between military and civilian communities until its planned dissolution in 1990.
